This extremely uphill hole
"plays"
as long as the yardage's on the card.
The only par 5 on the front nine
can produce a 3 or an 8.

It's really an intimidating shot from this new tee
location. It requires at least 190 yards of carry to reach the
fairway through a very narrow opening. Only really big hitters
will be able to get home in two. Only really straight-shooters
will be able to get through the trees and find the fairway.
Tip: Hope that the markers are set on one of the forward
tees.
If not, do the best you can. It's a little shorter favoring the left,
but if you feel you don't have the distance to reach the fairway
resist the urge to force the shot. Keep out of the trees to keep
from making a big number.

The ball will be "below the feet" of right-handed golfers.
It will be difficult to make solid contact. That should enter your
thinking as to how you'll play your shot. You have 3 choices. Go
for the green. Leave yourself a chip of about 30 yards. Or, lay-up
so you'll have a full wedge.
Tip: Keep your balance. Don't swing too hard. Even if
you have
the power, don't try to carry it all the way to the green. There's
too much trouble surrounding the putting surface. Favor the
opening short-left of the green.

If you hit the sand on the right and are close to the
green, it's not a hard shot. But, if you have a long bunker shot
it's much tougher. You also risk getting entangled with the bush
in the center of the bunker. If you try to play safely away from
the sand, you must avoid the thick grove of trees left of the green.
There's almost no recovery from there. Going right or long isn't
much better.
Tip: Keep your second shot left of center. It makes the
angle for
your approach a lot better. Also, the fairway slants more on the
right side making it even harder to stay balanced.

Now the fun really begins. The green is slanted hard
right and toward the front. Allow for more break and speed than
you think. It's hard to make any putt here. Three-putting is quite
common.
Tip: We've been suggesting that you mentally
"split greens in half"
to avoid trouble. This time, "split the green in quarters" and think
about leaving chips and putts toward the front-right quarter. This
will give you the best chance to play your next shot. Don't try to
"make" any putt from above the hole, if you miss it'll go 12 feet
past. Lag everything.

HOLE GOAL: "Greed is not good." Five solid shots will get
you a solid par.
