This is one of the toughest
driving holes you'll find anywhere.
A great physical and mental test. Now
with a new, big green.

The drive at six will make this hole one you'll remember.
Ideally, you should hit a 3 wood with a draw that starts just inside
the right tree line. If you have that shot in your bag, no problem.
You'll have just a short iron to the green. The big trees on the left
are very imposing, especially in summer when they have all their
leaves. If you miss the trees left, you'll likely be in the water. The
right side is a little safer. However, getting the next shot on the
green from the column of trees on the right will be a problem.
You will incur a water penalty if you hit it short. The stream
crosses the fairway about 150 yards from the tee.
Tip: Use the club you hit straightest. If you can hit
one straight
and far, that's even better. If you're rich and good-looking, better
yet. Just somehow get it in the fairway. If you miss, favor the right.

Depending on conditions and what club you hit off the
tee, you could have a wedge or a 3 iron remaining. If you land in
the fairway, making a big number should be out of the question
now. Unless, you do somethin' stupid, like put it left in the water,
or go over the green.

Tip: The
new green is more than a hundred feet deep, narrow in front and wider in
back. From the fairway, you can't see the back of the green which runs away
from you. Unless you can hit a really high, soft shot, don't play to the
back. The ball will run off the green, possibly into the stream behind. Play
shots only to that part of the green you can see.

HOLE GOAL: Play smart. Think about the easiest way to
make five and you'll quite often make four. If you hit a good
tee shot, a birdie is possible. Especially if the pin is in front.
