Fairway bunker... front green bunkers.

Hole 16

Par 4  -  375 yards

Middle Tee - 335 yards
Front Tee - 275 yards

This difficult dogleg right hole requires
a good tee shot to have a chance
to hit this green surrounded by sand.

This is a "second shot" hole, but a solid drive is necessary
to get in position to reach this well-protected green with a short-to-
medium iron. The distance between the fairway bunker on the
left and the trees on the right is greater than it looks from the tee.

Tip: Try to cut the corner as much as possible to shorten the
distance for your approach. It can make a difference of 2 or 3
clubs.

From 150 yards, you might not see the two sand bunkers in front of the green.

Players who hit high iron shots have an advantage.
Except for a small opening between the bunkers, there's only one
way to reach the raised putting surface... by air. If you have to
come in to this green with anything more than a 5 iron, it'll be
hard to stop the ball on this firm putting surface. There's a hidden
sand trap back-left that will catch balls coming in too hot.

Tip: Even though the opening between the front bunkers is only
about 10 yards wide, aim there. You'd be surprised how many of
your misses are short, but straight. The green is slightly elevated
and the prevailing wind is against. Use enough club.

Rolling green.

This green runs a bit faster and has more mounding than
the others. The primary slope of the surface is toward the
front-left. It will be fast in that direction. Don't count on holing
many putts on this green.

Tip: Lag all downhill putts and don't ram any putt too boldly.
You'll need the right speed on every stroke. It's important to read
your chips, too. The ball will react differently depending on which
part of the slope it lands. Plan on more roll than expected when
chipping or pitching to this firm green.

HOLE GOAL: Begin a strong finish to your round by getting
a par here. If you get in trouble, scramble but don't gamble.
Settle for a bogie.
